1.5.2008 - New Hosting

As you may or may not have noticed, the site has been out of service for a little over a month now. That's mostly because of laziness on my part; my old hosting company, Fried Hosting, went out of business and I just let it sit for a while before I found a new one. Matt Sparks suggested that I checked out NearlyFreeSpeech.net, an interesting hosting company that goes by a pay-as-you-go method. For me, it would be really really cheap. Because, you know, I don't get many visitors and as a consequence use very little bandwidth. Anyway, long story short, the site is back, although it will take me a while to figure out how to get WordPress and Gallery back in action - meaning that they won't be up for a while. The rest of the site should be operational, though.

4.15.2007 - Some New Update

I don't really have any site news to update, other than I've had some people who bugged me about not updating in a long time. Most of the action on this site goes on in the gallery and the web journal; those are the sections that are updated most often. I guess I COULD mention that I updated Reading List, though.

10.6.2006 - Blah blah blah

Not much to say, other than I've opened up a new section - General Lists. What? I was bored, so sue me. Volleyball games shouldn't last so damn long.

8.23.2006 - Photos & Etc.

I've been doing many minor, silent updates over the past month; particularly to links, articles, and reading list. The primary reason I'm posting this update is to alert all y'all about updates to the gallery: new albums in "Artistic", East Coast and New York (with 14 in New York and 4 in East Coast); 8 more in Illinois; 2 in Postcards; and 4 in Truxton, which is a new nested album in St. Louis. Enjoy.

7.21.2006 - Investigative Work

Recently, I was browsing through a stats program I use to monitor traffic on this site when I noticed an irregularity. Typically, any given month politisch will receive between 200 and 300 unique visitors. Bandwidth-wise, I typically use about 30 to 50 MB less than the amount of unique visitors I received. For example, Jan 2006 I received 244 unique visitors and used 130 MB of bandwidth. May 2006, I had 183 unique visitors to 107 MB of bandwidth.

That's all well and good, but where is this all leading, you ask? Well, when I reviewing this month's stats so far, I noticed that I had 161 unique visitors, but an astounding 403 MB of bandwidth. This immediately sent up red flags, so I decided to investigate. I checked out bandwidth usage and saw that .gif files were responsible for 240 MB of useage. This partly made sense, because of the Zidane folder I had set up filled with humorous gifs of Zidane's now infamous head-butt, but I had only sent it to a few friends; certainly not enough to account for 240 MB. Then I checked out referrers to my site, and noticed a lot of hits (but no visits) from a MySpace account. I went to the account, and on this guy's wall, a friend of his had linked 3 of my Zidane images. I didn't know either of them, but they were both from Springfield, so I started checking out the friends list of the guy who left the comments. He was friends with a person who I had given the link to the folder. Bandwidth leakage problem solved. Yay internet tracking.

7.9.2006 - Articles/Photos

I've recently opened up two sections - About Me and Articles, as well as one new article (about photography). I've also recently published many new photos. They're sprinkled throughout the albums, mostly in Illinois (Home and Clinton specifically), as well as a new album entitled "Saint Louis" and its newly-created nested album, Zoo.

P.S. - in case you haven't noticed, I have designated this front page of the site to post information and news about the site, while journal posts will be reserved for my seperate web journal.

7.6.2006 - New Layout

You're on notice! Second layout change since this site has started. I got bored with the old layout - I like simplicity, but it was *too* simple. I really like this layout. The code is much simpler than the old site, so I can easily add more pages within this layout. Partially, my motivation behind making the switchover is to put more content that isn't coded by third-party programs (read: wordpress with my web journal and gallery with my... gallery). What does this mean? More articles, maybe. More random stuff. It may take a little while for me to convert all my old pages, so bear with me please.
